Webinar: Understanding Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs)

Today’s fresh produce growers need to understand how MRLs impact the marketability of what they grow. Different countries have different limits on pesticide levels and some have no established levels at all on certain pesticides. Currently, there is an effort to harmonize MRLs globally, which will no doubt impact how your produce is sold in the future.

During this webinar, originally broadcast on Tuesday, July 27, Mike Aerts, marketing and membership director of the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association, will share his expertise on MRLs and show you how to find out what the limits are for your produce in different markets.

This free webinar is presented by GrowingProduce.com and FFVA, and sponsored by Certis.

About 2 acres of my produce farm had spray drift from a connecting farm. they sprayed paraguat, gramoxne, atazine, and 28% nitrogen, I lost 1800 walla walla onions, sugar peas, beets, turnips, tomatoes. melon vines. sweet corn, black berries, raspberries, blueberries. Some of the produce had light damage on and it started to grow again, I was told if the vine looked ok and fruit was not on the vine and did not have direct contact with the spray it should be ok to eat and sell. How can I tell? How can I tell if the mrl level is ok. the tree leaves on my farm are deformed were the drift hit. I lost 18 3 year old persimmon trees, they have heavy leave damage and twisting in the tops, my black raspberry canes turned brown and died about 2 weeks after the spray drift got on them. We were told if the produce was damaged it should show up within a few days, some damage showed up about 2 weeks later. we ate some of the berries now I wonder about the MRL levels. tell me what you think Jerry
