Survey: Consumers Less Anxious About Food Safety
The number of consumers concerned about food quality has decreased 17% from 2008, the recent Deloitte Consumer Food Safety Survey found. While 90% of respondents feel food recalls are on the rise, fewer people are anxious about them.
The survey also found that about 75% of respondents think the manufacturers/food companies are responsible for communicating product recall information, while 73% think government organizations like FDA should be responsible.
In addition, about 50% of survey respondents say the new country-of-origin labels help them determine which fruits, vegetables, and meats to purchase.
