Citrus Greening Quarantine Zone Growing in California

USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), along with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), is expanding the area in the Golden State quarantined for HLB (citrus greening).

APHIS is adding portions of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties to the quarantined area. The action was taken due to detection of the deadly disease in plant tissue samples recently collected in multiple locations, according to an official pest report provided by the North American Plant Protection Organization.

The government agency is applying safeguarding measures on the interstate movement of regulated material from the quarantined areas. These measures parallel the intrastate quarantine that CDFA established early last year.
