New Leader Selected To Take Helm at Florida Citrus Mutual
The Florida Citrus Mutual (FCM) Board of Directors has announced that G. Mathew “Matt” Joyner has been selected to serve as the CEO and Executive VP of the Bartow-based organization effective April 1, 2022.
A seventh-generation Floridian, Joyner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of South Florida. He worked in the financial services industry before joining the staff of then-U.S. Representative Adam Putnam in 2001 where he served in a variety of capacities including Chief of Staff.
In 2011, he joined the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as Federal Affairs Director and later became Deputy Chief of Staff. In 2018, he was named Director of Government Relations for Florida Citrus Mutual, a position he continues to hold today.
“Matt brings a unique perspective and skillset to Florida Citrus Mutual having worked side-by-side with both Legislators in the Halls of Congress and growers in the groves of Florida,” says FCM President Glenn Beck. “We’re excited and encouraged for the future with him at the helm.”
Joyner will succeed Mike Sparks, current CEO/EVP, who announced his intention to retire in a letter to the Board. Sparks served as CEO/EVP for the past 15 years, capping off a career in the Florida citrus industry that spanned more than four decades.
Sparks will remain with Florida Citrus Mutual until June 30, 2022, working to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
