New Marvel Comic Book Reveals Origin Of Captain Citrus
March 5, 2015 A newly released second installment of the Avengers Assemble comic book series includes appearances by Marvel’s popular Avengers characters and reveals the story behind Florida citrus grower John Polk’s transformation into Captain Citrus.
The release coincides with the kick-off of National Nutrition Month. According to the Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC), the marketing message remains the same: to empower families to make informed decisions on healthy eating and reinforce the value of 100% Florida Orange Juice as part of a healthy diet.

Last fall, the FDOC partnered with Marvel Custom Solutions to give Captain Citrus a new image – one that would help convey the values of the Florida Citrus industry and the importance of making smart choices about nutrition.
Roughly one million children in schools across the country received a printed copy of the first chapter last fall.
A third chapter in the Avengers Assemble series featuring Captain Citrus is slated for release this spring.
