Orange Crop Outlook Remains Sour Spot For Florida
The good news is that USDA’s updated 2015-2016 Florida orange forecast did not drop. The bad news is it didn’t go up either; and the 69 million box total still would represent the lowest output for the state in more than 50 years.
January’s estimate mirrors December’s forecast: 36 million boxes of early, midseason, Navel, and Temple varieties; plus 33 million boxes of Valencias.

The overall grapefruit estimate arrived at 10.8 million boxes. This is down from last month’s 11.5 million box count.
The official Florida orange crop estimates from USDA have fallen twice so far this season following its initial forecast of 80 million boxes.
Monthly updates from USDA will continue through July.
The next update from USDA is scheduled for February 9.
