Packaging Company’s Campaign To Benefit Future Organic Farmers
As a gesture of solidarity, Sambrailo Packaging has partnered with CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) and will donate a portion of the sales generated through the CCOF web store of their recently-launched Go Greener! clamshells back to CCOF in support of the Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund.
The fund aids kindergarten through eighth grade, high school, and vocational and higher education students in their journey to become organic farmers. The promotion on the CCOF web store will run through Dec. 31.
Go Greener! clamshells are made with 100% post-consumer recycled PET from clear and green beverage bottles and the result is a green translucent color that will capture the attention of organic consumers on the retail shelf.
When presented with Go Greener! clamshells for their organic certified growers, CCOF was responsive because of Sambrailo Packaging’s unique recycling and reuse of green plastic flake from green beverage bottles, which would otherwise go into landfills or be shipped overseas for use in other hard plastic goods. In the past there has not been a reuse for these green beverage bottles in the U.S.
“More than 33 million pounds of green plastic could be reused in one year,” Sara Mailhot, Product Development Manager for Sambrailo Packaging, states in a press release. “This statistic is hypothetically based on all CCOF-certified organic strawberry growers in the U.S. and Mexico using the Go Greener! 1-pound clamshells for one year, so the real potential could far exceed this number as sales grow and the product line increases.”
Go Greener! clamshells are currently available in 1 pound, 1 dry pint, and 6 ounce sizes, which are ideal for berries or tomatoes.
