Fruit Grower Tour Held Next Week In New York

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 5 for the 17^th annual Wayne County Fruit Grower Tour presented by agr.assistance.

Tour stops include:

Wilbert’s Fruit Farm on Walworth-Ontario Rd., Walworth NY (9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.); Topics include:

Improving apple return bloom, pollination, and crop set via crop nutrition and PGRs
Frost control in orchards including site selection, frost-fighting machines, and post-frost Promalin-Perlan PGR use
Demo of Agrofrost Frostbuster frost prevention unit
Demo of Rubberstock excavator demonstrating post pounding with tamper

Lagoner Farms on Tuckahoe Rd., Williamson, NY (1:15-2:45 p.m.); Topics include:

Apple scab control in 2015 – what worked well and what did not
Producing hard cider on the farm and launching Embark Craft Cider Works
Demo of checking your orchard sprayer coverage using Surround solar protectant
