Bright's Hybrid® 5 Rootstock
Bright’s Hybrid® 5 rootstock is an advanced clonal selection of one of the most popular peach/almond hybrid rootstocks. Bright’s Hybrid® 5 is an excellent rootstock choice for replant sites where vigor and nematode resistance is required. It is deep-rooted, well-anchored, salt tolerant, and drought tolerant versus standard peach rootstocks for almonds. It is considered a mid-size hybrid versus other popular peach/almond hybrid rootstocks and has high pH tolerance. Clonal propagation of this rootstock provides more uniform growth and performance than Bright’s Hybrid from seed. This selection was a survivor in an orchard with high pH due to excess calcium. RX 1 Walnut Rootstock
Past industry efforts to discover Paradox hybrid seedlings (Juglans hindsii x J. regia) with superior traits have led to advanced selections of Paradox clones, each with unique characteristics. The University of California selection, RX 1, is a top-choice for Sacramento Valley walnut orchardists and others looking for resistance to Phytopthora and good survivability. RX 1 is a cross of Juglans microcarpa x J. regia. It is showing to be one of the most adaptable walnut rootstocks, producing a large tree with the highest yields in replicated trials. USPP#20,649 P3

Empyrean® 1 Rootstock
Empyrean® 1 rootstock is a peach hybrid with extraordinary vigor and salt tolerance. It has shown to be a top rootstock in U.C.C.E. trials in the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valleys. With a lower chilling requirement versus Hansen 536, Empyrean® 1 could be useful in low-chill conditions sometimes experienced in California. It has fast orchard establishment; the vigor of this rootstock results in quick space-filling and rapid increases in early production. In young trees, high almond production has not sacrificed nut size. Empyrean® 1 shows promise of being one of the best and highest-yielding almond rootstocks available for well-drained soils. UCB-1 Pistachio Rootstock
UCB-1 is a Pistacia atlantica x P. integerrima hybrid cross made at the University of California (UC). It is superior for its disease resistance, salt and cold tolerance, and vigor. UCB-1 is one of the most popular rootstocks for new pistachio plantings, and it is typically field budded three to four months after rootstock is established. It is available as both clonal UCB-1 plants propagated in our own on-site tissue culture lab, and as seeded UCB-1 plants propagated from seed sourced directly from Foundation Plant Services at UC-Davis recognized as the highest quality true-to-type seed in the industry.

Krymsk® 86 Rootstock
Krymsk® 86 Peach/Plum Hybrid rootstock has quickly become one of our most popular rootstocks for almond trees due to its superior anchorage, Nonpareil compatibility, and its ability to tolerate heavy soil thanks to its plum parentage. Its tree size, structure, and yield efficiency is similar to standard peach rootstocks. The root system for Krymsk® 86 spreads very widely relative to Lovell and Nemaguard. In addition, individual roots possess high tensile strength, resulting in stronger roots and superior anchorage. Krymsk 86 should not be used in soils high in boron or in soils prone to root-knot nematode infestation, nor where high ring nematode populations have been detected. Krymsk® 86 is also compatible with peach and prune varieties.

VX 211 Walnut Rootstock
VX 211 is another advanced Paradox hybrid selection released by the University of California. A cross of Juglans hindsii x J. regia selected for its nematode tolerance and vigor. This selection also has moderate resistance to Phytophthora and survives well in field tests. VX 211 is a top choice for San Joaquin Valley walnut orchardists and others looking for nematode resistance and vigor. USPP#21,179 P3
