Soil and Water Conservation Society Recognizes SureHarvest
SureHarvest was recently honored for its innovative work as a private sector consultant by the California-Nevada Chapter Soil and Water Conservation Society. The award recognized the role the Soquel, CA company has played in pioneering the development of technologies and sustainability and certification programs which have helped the agricultural industry improve both profitability and environmental stewardship.
Tibor Horvath, the president of the California/Nevada Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, presented the award to SureHarvest’s Cliff Ohmart. Horvath specifically acknowledged SureHarvest’s leadership role in the California Almond Sustainability Program, the Sustainable Winegrowing Program and the Greener Fields Together Program.
“Since its founding in 1999, SureHarvest has provided solutions for growers and agrifood companies pursuing sustainability strategies – sustainability management software, farming management software, sustainability consulting services and third-party certification for the agrifood supply chain. SureHarvest developed the concept of the 5Ps of Sustainability; Principles, Process, Practices, Performance Metrics, and Progress to design and implement sustainability programs for growers, packer/shippers, processors, wineries and their trade associations. We believe that these private industry initiatives will play an important role in protecting our valuable soil and water resources for future generations,” said Horvath.
“We are thrilled SureHarvest’s contributions to the agrifood industry are being recognized by the Soil and Water Conservation Society”, said Ohmart, vice president of Professional Services. “The Soil and Water Conservation Society is a nonprofit scientific and educational organization that does important work as an advocate for science-based conservation practice, programs, and policy.”
