Krymsk® 5 Cherry Rootstock, Sierra Gold Nurseries
A promising new dwarfing and precocious cherry rootstock from Russia, Krymsk® 5 has more precocity than Mazzard or COLT, yet is not as precocious as the Gisela series, which can be a positive attribute for varieties that want to overset. Tree size is similar to Gisela 6 and has good anchorage and tolerance to heavy soils. Krymsk® 5 is very tolerant of stress conditions such as high temperatures and low soil moisture. USSP#15,723

Krymsk® 86 Rootstock, Sierra Gold Nurseries
This is an exciting new peach/plum hybrid rootstock from Russia which has Nonpareil almond compatibility and similar tree size and yields to Lovell. It has repeatedly shown superior anchorage relative to all other rootstocks for almonds. The soil adaptation is quite broad, including soils considered too wet for Lovell. It is also compatible with peach and prune varieties. USPP#16,272

UCB-1 Pistachio Rootstock, Sierra Gold Nurseries
UCB-1 is a P. atlantica x P. integerrima hybrid cross made at the University of California (UC). It is superior for its disease resistance, salt and cold tolerance, and vigor. UCB-1 is one of the most popular rootstocks for new pistachio plantings, typically field budded three to four months after rootstock is established. Available as both Clonal and from UC-sourced seed.

Empyrean® 1 Rootstock, Sierra Gold Nurseries
Empyrean® 1 is a peach hybrid with extraordinary vigor. This rootstock has a lower chilling requirement than Hansen 536, making it useful in low chill conditions sometimes experienced in California. Bloom timing is similar to the common Nemaguard rootstock, while harvest timing is similar to Hansen 536. The vigor of Empyrean® 1 results in quick space-filling and rapid increases in production. In young trees, high almond production has not sacrificed nut size. Empyrean® 1 shows promise of being one of the best and highest yielding almond rootstocks available for well drained soils.

Krymsk® 6 Cherry Rootstock, Sierra Gold Nurseries
A promising new dwarfing and precocious cherry rootstock from Russia, Krymsk® 6 is more dwarfing than Krymsk® 5 with approximately 10% less vigor, and about 70% the vigor of Mazzard. Krymsk® 6 has more precocity and is well suited to varieties needing improved precocity. It is tolerant to stress conditions, such as high temperatures and low soil moisture. USPP#16,114

Bright’s Hybrid® 5 Rootstock, Sierra Gold Nurseries
Bright’s Hybrid® 5 is an advanced selection of one of the most popular peach/almond hybrid rootstocks. Bright’s Hybrid® 5 is vigorous, nematode resistant, deep rooting, well anchored, and drought tolerant. Vigor and productivity are similar to Nemaguard. The anchorage is similar to other peach almond hybrids. It has excellent rootknot nematode resistance. Clonal propagation of this rootstock provides more uniform growth and performance than Bright’s Hybrid® from seed. This selection was a survivor in an orchard with high pH due to excess calcium.
