$10 Million Available For California Water Conservation Program

Applications for the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) California State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) are now open.

$10 million in financial assistance will be available in the form of competitive grants for growers to implement irrigation systems to reduce greenhouse gases and save water. The funding is made available through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, the proceeds of California’s greenhouse gas Cap and Trade program.

Agricultural operations can apply for funding up to $150,000 per project. The funding can be supported by a broad range and/or combination of irrigation and water distribution-related practices that provide quantifiable water savings and greenhouse gas reductions.

For application guidelines and eligibility requirements, visit CDFA.CA.gov/go/SWEEP. Applications are available online with the State Water Resources Control Board. All applicants for SWEEP must fill out a Financial Assistance Application Submittal Tool (FAAST) account at FAAST.WaterBoards.CA.gov. Prospective applicants may contact CDFA’s Grants Office at [email protected] with general program questions.

Applications are due by June 29 at 5 p.m., PDT.
