People really like watermelons, even to the point that it surprised vegetable grower and social media influencer Shay Myers after his recent TikTok post featuring the juicy cucurbits. His post tagged “Watermelons won’t look the same much longer” focuses on new dark green watermelon varieties. It is a hit on TikTok, racking up more than 972,000 views and amassing more than 54,000 likes — so far. Unique looks aside, these latest watermelon varieties have plenty other attributes for growers and consumers alike.
In a related post on LinkedIn, Myers, CEO of Owyhee Produce in Parma, ID, writes: “Not sure why this went viral on #tiktok, but it is pushing a million views. People must love their watermelon!
