E. Coli Outbreak Linked To Celery
Taylor Farms Pacific, Inc. of Tracy, CA, has recalled several products because they may include celery which could potentially contain E. coli 0157:H7. A Celery and Onion Diced Blend tested positive for E. coli 0157:H7 in a sample taken by the Montana Department of Health, according to a press release from FDA. The celery was include as part of a mix included in chicken salad at Costco stores.
The recall now includes more than 155,000 items at many grocery stores. In late November, contaminated celery was found at Costco. Now the list of stores selling the products that may be contaminated also includes Walmart, Sams’s Club, Albertsons, 7-11, Target and Safeway, primarily in the Western states, according to an NBC report.
The Centers for Disease Control states that as of Nov. 23, 19 people from seven states have been sickened from consuming the celery from Taylor Farms. Five people have been hospitalized.
