New Fungicide For Lettuce And Strawberry Growers
California strawberry and lettuce growers have a new crop protection tool at their disposal with the recent state registration of Kenja 400 SC fungicide from Summit Agro USA.
The group 7 fungicide is for use to control botrytis gray mold in strawberries and Sclerotinia drop in lettuce, both serious diseases which can devastate yields.
“Kenja’s chemistry – the actual molecule – is different,” says Jim Sturges, Summit Agro Regional Manager. “A fourth generation SDHI fungicide, not only does Kenja provide exceptional in-season disease protection, its unique chemistry helps to minimize SDHI resistance potential.
In strawberries, when applied as the last spray before harvest, Kenja can add days to post-harvest shelf life, so growers can get more high-quality fruit to market, according to the company. Kenja also is active on other key strawberry diseases, including powdery mildew and anthracnose.
For lettuce, in either direct-seeded or transplanted, Kenja provides control of Sclerotinia drop (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Sclerotinia minor) and can mesh with current disease management programs. The product label provides specific use instructions for both crops.
Sold exclusively through Tenkoz member companies and Helena Chemical Company, Kenja fungicide is distributed in the USA by Summit Agro USA LLC.
