Walmart Recalls Its Second Fresh Market Vegetable in a Month
Walmart announced it’s recalling organic zucchini distributed by World Variety Produce due to Salmonella concerns. The contaminated case lot shipped to stores in 18 states — Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin, FDA reports.
The recall follows a random test and is not linked to any illnesses at this point, FDA says. The positive result came from imported zucchini.
Just a couple weeks ago, Walmart also recalled romaine hearts due to Minnesota Department of Agriculture finding Cyclospora during routine sampling. The recall impacts more than a few select Walmart stores in the state, including several independent markets.
The recall involves Ocean Mist Farms’ 22 oz romaine heart packages harvested on March 10 in Coachella, CA.
