Chemical Options:
- Cheetah
Cheetah from Nufarm Americas Inc. is a non-selective herbicide now labeled for use in sweet corn. It is also labeled for use as a desiccant on potato vines, where it provides fast, complete vine desiccation to allow for a more timely harvest.This herbicide provides control of more than 100 grass and broadleaf weeds, including glyphosate-resistant weeds such as marestail, fleabane, malva, clover, and kochia. Unlike systemic herbicides, Cheetah does not translocate through the plant.
Nufarm.com - Acuron
Acuron from Syngenta features a new active ingredient, bicyclopyrone, and is expected to be registered for the 2015 growing season. It contains four active ingredients and has three complementary modes of action.Acuron provides a multi-targeted approach to weed control, and offers built-in corn weed resistance management. It’s expected to control more than 70 small- and large-seeded broadleaf weeds and annual grasses such as ragweed (common and giant), Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, marestail, morningglory, common cocklebur, sunflowers, Russian thistle, and kochia.
Acuron-Herbicide.com - Suppress EC
Suppress EC from Westbridge Agricultural Products received registration as a broad-spectrum contact herbicide for post-emergent, non-selective weed control for use in food and non-food crops. The formulation is an emulsifiable concentrate that has been approved by the Organic Materials Review Institute.

Mechanical Option:
- KRESS Fingerweeder
The Kress Fingerweeder from Kress & Co., a German-based company specializing in machinery for organic farming and specialty crop production, provides fast, efficient weed control in crop rows. Available in three sizes, the rubber fingers on the weeder are designed to grip the sides of the plant, while the metal fingers on the underside of the weeder hoe the weeds in the row. The Kress Fingerweeder can be attached to any common cultivator. To achieve maximum weed control, the fingerweeder should be used when weeds first emerge.
